You may remember we reported to you last week about an escape from the Venango County Jail on Monday November 28. Kurtis Lee Urey will go to trial on a charge of escape. The charge has been waived for court.
Urey escaped during a temporary leave from the jail for a job interview, an interview from which he did not return. The City of Franklin Police Department was notified last Tuesday by the state police at the Franklin station they had received a phone call from Urey who told them he had a warrant and requested they pick him up at the Rouseville Store. The Franklin City Police then faxed the warrant to the state police who then picked Urey up on the warrant and brought to the office of Magisterial District Court Judge Matthew Kirtland where the warrant for escape was served on him.
