One Charged in Rocky Grove Meth Bust

A one pot methamphetamine lab was found during the investigation of an active domestic disturbance in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County.  As a result, a 45 year old man with no permanent address is lodged in the Venango County Jail unable to raise $20,000 bond.

Sugarcreek Borough Police report they were called to the 400 building of Franklin Commons at 9 Crestview Drive Wednesday afternoon shortly before 4 pm and found Jerry Phillips and known female involved in a confrontation.  As officers investigated the situation, they located precursors for the manufacturing of methamphetamine.  The officers called in agents of the Attorney General's Office and the Pennsylvania State Police Clandestine Lab Team. The Sugarcreek Borough Police applied for a search warrant.  The authorities found evidence at the scene showing an active one pot cooking method had been completed within the apartment as well as numerous chemicals and ingredients for making meth.  Phillips was charged with possession of methamphetamine  precursors as well as risking a catastrophe.  Police say Phillips was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Matthew Kirtland and lodged in the Venango County Jail.  A preliminary hearing is set for Phillips for Wednesday January 11th.  Police say other charges are pending.

Police also report because numerous one pot labs were located within the apartment, the building was evacuated.  Assisting at the scene were personnel and units from the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, the Reno Volunteer Fire Department and Community Ambulance Service.
